PADI Continuing Education Courses Adventure Dives
Adventure Diver and the Advanced Open Water Program - As a qualified
diver, you can participate in Adventure dives with an instructor.
These consist of knowledge reviews in the Adventures in Diving
manual, and then a dive in the Adventure chosen.
You can choose adventure dives from a wide range of possibilities,
allowing you to try out different types of dive in a safe controlled
environment, learn some new skills applicable to these environments,
and discover some of diving's many and varied activities. Remember
that Adventure Dives can also count towards Speciality courses,
for example, a dry suit adventure dive, one further dry suit dive,
and a little bit more theory will result in the award of Dry suit
Diver Speciality.
There is nothing to stop you doing as many adventure dives, as
you like. In order to qualify as an Adventure Diver, you must
complete any three adventure dives. Adventure Diver qualification
will demonstrate your commitment to diving and your enhanced training.
This can be extended further to the Advanced Open Water qualification,
which consists of five adventure dives, of which one must be a
deep adventure dive and one a navigation adventure dive.
We can offer many exciting Adventure Dives at the local dive site
at Capernwray, including underwater navigation, search and recovery,
peak performance buoyancy, wreck, multilevel, dry suit, night,
and underwater photography. We regularly visit other sites for
deep adventure dives as well. In order to complete the Deep Adventure
Dive, PADI standards require that you must visit a depth between
18-30 m (21 metres for those under 15).
As such, we feel it is useful, although not mandatory, that you
have experienced 30m (or 21m!) of depth during the training. While
we are at our deep site, we will normally make another dive, normally
in the 25m ranges, just for experience. We also offer regular
trips away, during which we can incorporate other Adventure Dives
not possible at the local dive site at Capernwray.
We offer a flexible and modular approach to these experiences
and courses, in order to allow you to chose how you would like
to structure your training. You can combine courses, for example
to upgrade from Adventure Diver to Advanced Open Water would only
cost an additional £95
The prices are as follows: Adventure Dives - £60 each

in Diving manual in order to complete adventure dives. Please

Manual, certification, gear, and air.
Advanced Open Water Diver - £250. Comprises five adventure
dives Including Deep and Navigation manual, certification, gear
and air. Rescue Diver
This course is somewhat of an oddity, as it does not involve a
great deal of diving. It is designed to give you the skills and
knowledge to be able to deal with diving emergencies should they
occur, and as such much of the course goes on is taught on the
surface. For any qualified diver, rescue diver will give a superb
boost of confidence as it provides you with the training needed
in the unlikely event an accident occurs. It is a course to be
considered once you are comfortable in your own abilities, as
it involves the process of looking after Others in need.
When looking at rescue in general, what marks this course out
from most is its
concentration on effective rescues rather than a pedantic drill.
Each rescue situation is unique, and this course is very effective
at preparing you to be flexible and efficient, rather than tied
into a "right" way of doing things. In real life, effective
rescues are ones that work, not ones that are done according to
a training manual or drill.
In order to qualify as a rescue diver, you must hold a First Aid
qualification.
This can be the PADI Emergency First Response (see below) or another
comparable course. This must have been completed, or refresher
training completed, within 2 years. The course is set out in the
form of a series of academic components, combined with in-water
scenarios for practical. We endeavour to make these scenarios
as realistic as possible - if in doubt, please feel free to consult
with any of our rescue graduates!
The course is undertaken over 3 full days. Costs include all manuals
etc, and use of gear as required.
